Message from Deputy Principal re: Measles in Waikato

Berkley Normal Middle School

26 Berkley Avenue

Hamilton 3216

17 May 2016

Dear Parents/Caregivers

As you will be aware two schools in the Waikato have recently had to send students home

because of cases of measles.  Students and staff are not being allowed back to school until they

can prove they have had the required two doses of the measles vaccine.

Those of you who were part of the Berkley community last year will remember we had a similar

experience with one confirmed with a case of measles.

Although there is no information to suggest that we have any concerns regarding measles and our

Berkley students, it is timely to ensure our immunisation records are up to date.

As our records show we do not have any immunisation status details for your child, we request

that you please provide this information to the school office as soon as possible – a scanned and

emailed copy is acceptable – office@berkley.school.nz.

Further information about measles is available on the Ministry of Health website.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding with this important issue.

Yours sincerely

Wendy Foster
